（Vol.37） To picnic or not to picnic, that is the question

As summers are very short lived in my hometown of Edmonton, I had little chance to do a lot during the summers. As a young boy, summers were typically reserved for camping trips with my family or with my Boy Scout group. As a university student summers were reserved for work (hard work, with long hours; making money for the upcoming school year’s tuition etc.). Now that I am in Japan where the summers are long and one can truly enjoy the warm weather in various different ways I have gotten a head start on the season by already having gone on 4+ picnics.
I guess the nice weather that we have been having the past few weekends has been a large factor in deciding whether or not to go on a picnic. And having many opportunities to go outside and enjoy the springtime weather has been very refreshing. There were the cherry blossoms, and now that they have finished their blooming splendour, there is an opportunity for other outdoor adventures. I plan on going kite flying, hiking, and maybe even sneak in a hot spring trip ;-) at some point. I am really looking forward to the heat and the opportunity to be outside.
Even though to many Japanese people it may be early for the ‘summer’ mind set I am already there and let me tell you I am rearing to go.

カナダに住んでいた頃、故郷のエドモントンの夏はとても短かったので、あまり多くのことはできませんでした。それでも、少年時代には、家族やボーイスカウトのグループで主にキャンプをして過ごしたり、大学生の時は新学期の授業料を稼ぐためにバリバリ働いたりしていました。
今は、夏が割りと長くて温暖な気候を様々に楽しめる日本にいます。そんな中、私はシーズンに先駆けてすでに4回以上のピクニックに行きました。
ここ最近の週末のお天気は「ピクニックに行くかどうか」が大きな問題でした。春の気候はとても気持ちが良くて楽しめます。外出すると、桜が咲いていて（今は終わってしまいましたが）、他にもアウトドアには楽しみがいっぱいです。私は凧揚げやハイキング、それからどこかのタイミングで、温泉旅行(^_^)にも行こうかと思っています。私は本当に、これからの暑さと外で過ごす時間が楽しみです！
日本人にとっては早すぎると思いますが、私はすでに夏モードです！そう、ウズウズしています！
