| A: |
Hi, I'm Melissa Hanson, or Mel for short.
You must be the new person over at Admin. |
| B: |
Pleased to meet you, Mel. My name is Fumiko,
and my nickname is Fummy. I think I've passed
by your desk...next to Yoshimura-san's? |
| A: |
Yes, that's right.
So, how's your first day at work going? |
| B: |
To be honest - very hectic!
But I'm trying very hard to fit in,
and as soon as possible. |
| A: |
Well, I like your gung-ho attitude!
Why don't you come to lunch with me
- I'll introduce you to my friends. |
| B: |
That's great! Thank you for the invitation.
I look forward to seeing you later. |

| B: |
Hello, my name is Fumiko Nakayama.
How are you this morning? |
| A: |
Fine, thanks. My name is Alex. |
| B: |
I hope I'm not interrupting anything. |
| A: |
No problem.
I'm just on my way to the 12th floor. |
| B: |
Well, I just wanted to say hi, and
get acquainted with my new environment. |
| A: |
Good luck and welcome aboard, Fumiko.
If I can help you with anything, let me know. |
| B: |
Thank you very much, Alex! |

第1回講座の面接でも紹介しましたが、会話をはずませるためには、質問に対しては"yes/no"だけではなく、必ず一言付け加えることが大切です。また、"how's your first day at work going?(出社初日はどう?)"という"yes/no"では答えない質問の場合でも、"very hectic!(忙しいわ)"だけでなく、"But I'm trying very hard to fit in, and as soon as possible.(できるだけ早く職場になじむように一生懸命がんばっているところよ)"というように、少しでも多く情報を付け加えるようにしましょう。 |
